Hosted by the UF/IFAS Center for Land Use Efficiency, the Urban Landscape Summit features diverse topics that reflect current research. This year’s event will be held April 23-24 at the Straughn IFAS Extension Professional Development Center in Gainesville. The 2024 summit will focus on building water supply resiliency within Florida landscapes.

Previous summits have covered such topics as connections between the atmosphere and water quality in Tampa Bay, tree risk assessment, and working with developers on reducing landscape impacts.
The first day will include Robert Gilbert, the UF/IFAS interim senior vice president for agriculture, presentations, a student poster competition, and a panel discussion with center partners. The second day will feature panel discussions on alternative landscapes and the future of Florida water.
Panelists include Phillip Hisey with the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association (FNGLA), Greg Jones, director of real estate with Wildlight Development; Heather Isaacs, vice president of land development with Taylor Morrison, and Emily Lang, environmental administrator with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
A networking reception will be held Tuesday evening at Swamp Head Brewery.
