Dr. Dukes is a professor of irrigation and water conservation, and specializes in efficient use of water in irrigated systems. His research and extension programs focus on irrigation and drainage engineering, water quantity and quality issues, crop consumptive use / evapotranspiration, and Best Management Practices to reduce nonpoint source pollution.

Dr. Dukes received his PhD in biological and agricultural engineering from North Carolina State University.
