Energy Efficient Building Construction in Florida, 11th Edition

Energy programming has a long history at UF/IFAS and has been integral in shaping best practices for building code in Florida. Since 1999, the “Energy Efficient Building Construction in Florida” book (EEBCF) has served as a resource to promote energy efficiency in new home construction, providing professionals with essential guidance for energy-saving building practices.  It’s a critical reference guide for contractors, architects, and builders working to meet Florida’s energy and construction standards.

You can order the EEBCF publication through this form (PDF).

“Energy Efficient Building Construction in Florida” is a comprehensive reference guide designed to support best practices in residential building construction specific to Florida’s climate and energy codes. Now in its 11th edition, the book provides detailed, practical guidance on energy-efficient design, materials and construction methods, with a strong focus on building science principles, code compliance and climate-specific strategies for hot-humid regions. It serves as an essential resource for contractors, inspectors, energy raters, architects and students preparing for licensing exams or implementing energy efficiency upgrades.
