Nasser Najibi is an assistant professor of climate resilience and an extension specialist. He is based in the agricultural and biological engineering department on the main UF campus. Dr. Najibi works on developing engineering approaches, tools and datasets at the intersection of hydroclimate extremes, risk assessment and decision-making in a changing environment. His work bridges hydroclimate science, systems engineering and geospatial data modeling/applications to enhance climate and ecosystem resilience by characterizing the drivers and impacts of extreme weather events and climate change on infrastructure systems and communities.

Dr. Najibi’s research group focuses on understanding multi-sectoral, deeply uncertain and dynamic climate risks to improve resilience and adaptation to multi-hazards evolving in a changing environment. See more at the Climate Resilience Lab website.

Before joining the University of Florida, Dr. Najibi was a research associate and postdoctoral scholar at Cornell University and an ORISE Postdoctoral Fellow sponsored by the USACE Engineer Research and Development Center. He received a doctorate and master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from The City University of New York (City College) in 2019.
